Summary

Summary
John Watson wrote this article in 2006. He wrote it because Libya is a desert country and has a problem to find fresh water. Oil exploration in the 1950s had discovered vast aquifers beneath the Libyan Desert. The analysis says it was 40,000 years old and Libyans call it fossil water. After that the Great Al Fatah Revolution in 1969. Muammar Al Qadhafi started the industrialization and the water project was started in 1984 in Libya.
The project started in 1984 with the foundation stone for the pipe production plant at Brega. Phase 1 began by bringing the water from eastern well-fields at Sarir. Three years later phase 2 was completed to bring water from Western Wells to Tripoli. And phase 3 was still under construction in 2006. Threat
The project was a success because Libya is a world leader in hydrological engineering. Also Libya in a good position to play an increasingly influential role is in the global economy. Also they have a future plan to decrease the foreign percentage from 30% to 10%.

Main Idea
Libya is a desert country and hard to find fresh water. Muammar Al Qadhafi developed the industrial of water network. He worked very hard to construct pipe line network and distribute water in coastal cities.

Opinion
In my opinion Muammar Al Qadhafi is a great leader because he change life of Libyans people and helped Libya to developed her water network.
